Supervised the residential life and daily work of 8 college age citizens committed to performing ten months of national service. Each day I was presented new challenges, responsibilities, and roles to play to ensure that assigned projects were completed while overseeing the care and labor of my team members. Projects were located in different areas of the North Eastern United States and included hurricane relief efforts with FEMA in Florida.

1996-2003 – Philmont Scout Ranch – Cimarron, NM
2003 – Work Crew Foreman – Supervised a work crew of 6 staff doing rehabilitation needed from a 90,000+ acre forest fire during the previous year. Rehabilitation included spreading seed, raking, and spreading straw on top of the seeded areas. My responsibilities included driving my crew to the work site each day, ensuring that specific sections of land were covered, doing rehabilitation work, and moving supplies, seed, and straw to the work sites as needed.
2002 – Associate Chief Ranger – Assistant manager for a department of 205 employees servicing 20,383 customers. Indirectly responsible for 48 of those employees for the entire summer. I was assigned 8 Ranger Trainers to supervise for the summer. I was responsible for training, supervising, and evaluating these Ranger Trainers throughout the summer. I also held responsibilities of OPS and OC for Search and Rescue duties, developed strategies and polices for a department of 205 people as well as National High Adventure policy for Boy Scouts of America, and supervised and conducted continuing training for Rangers throughout the summer.
2002 – Network Technician – Assisted in creating computer network for Philmont Scout Ranch. Duties included installing network hardware, configuring computers (Linux and MS Windows) to work with the network, and setting up a network server (E-Smith Linux). The network consisted of approximately 50 computers in buildings over a 1/4 mile radius.
2002 – Kanik Guide – Responsible for teaching winter camping skills to Boy Scouts and leading trips during the winter months in the New Mexico Rocky Mountains. Instructed winter camping skills for Search and Rescue volunteers for the State of New Mexico, and created Power Point presentation for winter camping instruction. Job also included various other tasks other than those related to winter camping including GIS mapping, staff recruiting, representing the flagship camp for the Boy Scouts of America, and general manual labor.
2001 – Autumn Adventure Guide – Responsible for leading various backpacking treks in the New Mexico Rocky Mountains over a 2 month time period. I also assisted in National Training for high adventure trek planning. My job included various tasks other than those related to backpacking including GISmapping, landscaping, and general manual labor.
1999&2001 – Ranger Trainer – I was assigned 7 rangers to train, supervise, and evaluate throughout the summer. I also assumed responsibilities of RITO (strike team guide) and Team Leader for Search and Rescue duties.
1997&98 – Mountain Trek Ranger – Assigned partner to co-lead Boy Scouts (youth only) into the Rocky Mountains of New Mexico to instruct proper backpacking methods and insure quality supervised treks lasting one week each. I facilitated in team building for each crew.
1996 – Ranger (1) – Responsible for leading Boy Scouts (youth and adults) into the Rocky Mountains of New Mexico and instructing proper backpacking methods for unsupervised 10 day treks. I facilitated in leadership development of youth crew leaders.
